Bronco Build
So i have a bronco.... i had a deal to work on it at a buddies shop, but it looks like thats not happening before winter, so im at the point where i may want to drop it off somewhere, make the dude visualize what i want and pick it up when its done..... weak, i know, but id like to have it done before the snow hits up here.
This is what i have.... uncut 74 bronco ranger, stock drivetrain dropped, 351 EFI bolted in, not wired. Need it wired/fired, need aluminum radiator mounted, have new radiator/fan. have headers, need full exhaust, Plans for a 4r70w gearset swapped into AOD, already own the 4r70w, just need an AOD shell, tilt/power steering swap. Plans for 205 t case, already have the t case, just needed to twin stick it and find shifters. Quite Possibly needs frame cutting/notching to fit the bigger T case, also need both driveshafts. need floor pans replaced, have floor pans. So basically i just need this thing rolling, drivetrain and floor panels. Next will be power steering, lift, bumpers, roll cage, new tires/wheels cutting rear fenders (oh noeesss!!!) etc. Anyone know what kind of price range i should be looking for to get it done right? everything seems pretty straight forward besides the floor pans, thats the biggest part there, as far as labor goes.
your probbally looking at least a 80 hours of labor for the first list you talked about getting done. most shops charge at least 75 dollars and hour

We replaced the front floor pans with aftermarket ebay finds, the rear floor was an afterthought, when we got to looking at it, it was rusted fairly bad.... bad enough to justify the price of a good floor from a parted out bronco. The new floor came with the wheel well welds, so we were able to air hammer the welds apart and weld seams just like factory for the sides, and we went ahead and used seam sealer on all of the new seams, front and rear, then rhino lined the welds and raw metal. Also cut out some new kick panels as they were nice and rusty....
I also went ahead and called BC broncos, got the complete tank kit with tank, sender, pump and skid plate, along with the manifold adapter for the 351. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

MOAAARRRR!!!!!!!
OK, here is a few pics of some of the things we had been working on, or had worked on but hadnt posted pics yet ;D First off..... something we found in the frame rail...... sorry lil buddy!!! ![]() ![]() Some more rust repair ![]() ![]() We did the popular 4x4x2 conversion on this steering box, then mounted it up. We mocked it up, welded DOM to the bottom of the frame for the bottom 2 bolts, then boxed that. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then here is the brake booster bracket we have been working on (on and off) for the past couple weeks. We opted to offset it rather than angling it out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

well, here is a picless update... just thought id hop on here and list the few things that we have tied up in the last few days
Finished bolting up transmission Measured for temp driveshafts Bolted up headers (the exhaust place is gonna hate me for where the pass collecter is) Fabbed a T case shifter Ran a serpentine belt for AC delete, which involved stealing a ribbed idler pulley from a 5.4 Filled engine with oil/new filter and cranked to lube everything as its been sitting for a while. drew up some cage plans We are waiting on some stuff coming from summit to finish up a couple things mainly my brakes and trans linkage, as well as a front end poly bushing kit. Its getting closer, the main things on the to do list are finishing up the brake system, which needs calipers, rotors and a proportioning valve, the exhaust, which will be one of the last things done, as we are sourcing that out. Cage building, temp driveshafts need to be built, engine still needs some wiring to be complete, and i need to go through all my existing wiring as well.

When i got my bronco this bad boy was faded, the glass was broken, and it had a red high beam indicator lens.... So i ordered new glass, painted the fascia as well as the needles, and replaced the red lens, I'll buy the guy a beer that guesses what i used to make the high beam indicator blue instead of red....

![]() We have basically been buttoning up details lately, vacuum lines, fuel lines, throttle cable, etc.... today since we hooked the throttle up, i was actually able to drive it around the block, before we were just idling it everywhere we needed to move it.... beats pushin... anywho, we encountered a bit of a trans problem that we are hoping a valve body swap will fix. Still needs exhaust, some other wires under the dash hooked up and tied up... Tomorrow we should be starting on the cage, so we can put seat belts in, after that and the exhaust, technically it will pass state inspection and i can get it registered and start driving it around working on it as I go. its been at the shop for almost a year now!
